This is Shifter.
Shifter is one of my oldest and romeplay characters, like, ever. I luff him.

He doesn't luff me, though. Which is good, really, because prettymuch everything he loves dies. He's a very disturbed little mostly-bunny.

He can change into any animal as long as it's previously existed somewhere in the universe and is not humaniod. Don't I just think of the best names ever?

Also, he can't talk except with his mind, not because he's an animalcreature, but because his throat/tounge was like, burned away because he inhaled burning ash and smoke in a fire. The details of the fire kinda depends on the roleplay. In the roleplay I made for him, The White Rabbit, my most sucessful roleplay ever, it was a fire that destroyed his entire village and killed pretty much everyone he held dear in a horrible way, sending on a quest for vengance against his general adversary Scriptorio, a black dragon of EVIL. Goddamn i'm original. Actually, that plotline developed itself during the first TWR roleplay, I hadn't even thought of Scriptorio at the time of making it. I dont actually plan... ahead. So, besides the original TWR there's been a sequel, a remake of the sequel and a curently-in progress remake of the original that's happenin' over at theCompendium. I just don't know when to let go T.T.

So, um, anyway, as with most of my roleplay characters, his design is pretty inconstant. Sometimes the top quarter of his left ear is ripped off, sometimes not. Generally, though he looks like this. His second favorite form is a white dragon, which, fyi, does exist in the land of shapeshifting rabbits where he comes from . All his forms are pretty much the most average form of the animal he's... being. One exception, though, the eyes are always always yellow.

Shifter's generally a pacifist and doesn't kill things needlessly. He's also a vegetarian, both because he's a rabbit and eating meat would be cannibalism in one form or another. One exception to his no killing rule though is anyone that tries to hurt him or his friends.

He and Scriptorio are more connected than he (at the current time in the remakerp) knows. they're like, opposites. Light and Dark, bunny and dragon, big and small, deep things like that. lots of fun.

As for how the shifting thing actually works... um, magic? Generally he was some sort of creation made by some crazy guy. The original term I used was "homunculus" but i'm not really sure that's exactly what it is anymore. His past is pretty fuzzy to all three of us. (me, you and him ) The basic rules of the transformation are:
-no humanoids
-eye color/scars/injuries remain the same or as close as possible
-fur color changes to the most general form of the animal.
-only has one form of each type of animal, but can change to different subspecies, ex. As a timber wolf he is grey, and cannot change to red/brown etc. but becase white dragons and red dragons are different subspecies with different characteristics he can change to either one.
-cannot talk in any form
-can only change into things that exist or have previously (ex. he can change into a dinosaur, but can't make up an animal to change into, no matter how clear the visual of it is in his head)
-can't change into things on a microscopic scale.
